Setting
1969-1972: Born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. My parents served as missionaries under the Pacific Coast Conference of the Mennonite Church.
1972-1976: Dallas, Texas. Dad completed his Ph. D. at Southern Methodist University. Mom sold World Book Encyclopedia to help make ends meet. I am in the right place at the right time when I become a football fan (Dallas Cowboys).
1976-1978: Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. I attended the local escuela primaria (Vicente Guerrero) in our colony for second and third grade. Parents serving under Pacific Conference in church support and leadership development.
1978-1986: Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jenks Public Schools. Parkside Mennonite Bretheren. Fellowship of the New Creation (church-plant). Oral Roberts University. Jenks “Boomers” travel team (2 state championships). Mazzio’s pizza. Peach trees, plum trees, and garden.
1986-1987: Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Christopher Dock Mennonite High School.
1987-1988: Harrisonburg, Virginia. Eastern Mennonite University.
1988 (June to December): YES program–training in Baltimore & outreach in Guatemala City
