Cool stuff…

August 5, 2008

My brother-in-law (Matt) just pointed me to Gmap pedometer. It’s very cool. I measured one of my regular running routes around Lancaster Host. 7.5 miles is close to what I always calculated for this course.

Another cool development is the groundbreaking for Butter Valley Harvest. This hydroponic vegetable venture is a partnership between my cousin Ryan Ehst and his dad (my uncle) Ken Ehst. The vision for this new venture is cool on a number of levels. It is nice to see a new vision take shape involving the cultivating of land on the Ehst farm (where my mother grew up). Wendell Berry would smile upon this effort to connect local producers to local consumers in a way that carefully tends to the gifts of creation.
